The AB Grade selection offers a refined timber appearance with carefully selected natural grain characteristics.

2. What are the dimensions of 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™?

Each plank measures 1900mm long × 190mm wide × 14mm thick, featuring a genuine 3mm European Oak wear layer.

The boards feature a tongue-and-groove joining system and four-sided micro-bevel edges for a defined plank appearance.

3. What colours are available in the 14mm AB Grade collection?

The 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ AB Grade collection is available in five carefully selected European Oak colours:

  • Whisper

  • Signature Oak

  • Driftwood

  • Natural

  • Barley

We recommend ordering samples to assess the colour, natural grain and finish in your home before placing your order.

4. What is the difference between AB Grade and ABCD Natural Grade?

AB Grade is selected for a more refined and consistent timber appearance, generally featuring fewer prominent knots and less pronounced natural character variation than ABCD Natural Grade.

As genuine European Oak is a natural material, variations in grain, tone and individual board appearance are normal and contribute to the character of the finished floor.

5. Is 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ suitable for Australian homes?

Yes. The engineered construction is designed to minimise expansion and contraction compared with solid timber flooring. Its multi-layer plywood core provides dimensional stability when the product is correctly installed and maintained.

Appropriate subfloor preparation, moisture management and environmental control are essential to long-term performance.

6. Is 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ flooring durable?

Yes. The flooring features a genuine 3mm European Oak wear layer and a protective UV-lacquered finish. With correct installation, regular cleaning and appropriate maintenance, it is designed to provide long-term performance in residential interiors.

7. Can 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ be installed over concrete?

Yes. The flooring can be installed over a suitable concrete subfloor, provided it is structurally sound, clean, dry and level.

The recommended subfloor flatness tolerance is 3mm over a 3-metre span. Moisture testing, preparation and any required moisture barrier must be completed in accordance with the applicable installation requirements.

8. What installation methods are available?

14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ can be installed using either of the following methods:

  • Direct glue-down installation: The boards are bonded directly to a suitably prepared subfloor using a compatible flooring adhesive.

  • Floating floor installation: The boards are installed as a floating floor system in accordance with the manufacturer's installation requirements.

The correct method depends on the project, subfloor conditions and installation requirements.

9. Is 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ suitable for underfloor heating?

The flooring is suitable only for approved in-slab hydronic radiant heating systems when installed using the direct glue-down method.

Electric radiant heating systems are not approved under these requirements. The floor surface temperature must never exceed 26°C. The heating system must be commissioned and operated in accordance with the flooring installation guide and heating manufacturer's instructions.

10. Can 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ be installed in kitchens?

Yes. Engineered Oak flooring can be installed in kitchens when the subfloor, installation method and environmental conditions are suitable.

Spills should be cleaned promptly, and standing water or excessive moisture must be avoided. Fixed cabinetry and kitchen islands must be installed in accordance with the relevant installation method so they do not restrict the movement of a floating floor.

11. Is 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ suitable for families and pets?

The protective lacquer finish is designed for everyday residential use. To help maintain the appearance of the floor, remove dirt and grit regularly, use protective pads under furniture and clean spills promptly.

Pet claws, heavy impacts and abrasive particles may scratch or mark the surface, so appropriate care is recommended.

12. How do you clean and maintain 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ flooring?

For routine maintenance, we recommend:

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dirt and grit.

  • Use a suitable timber flooring cleaner.

  • Mop with a well-wrung mop and avoid excessive water.

  • Clean spills promptly.

  • Avoid steam mops, abrasive products and harsh chemicals.

  • Use protective felt pads beneath furniture legs.

  • Protect the floor during construction and renovation works.

Following these recommendations helps preserve the finish and appearance of the flooring.

13. Can 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™ be sanded and refinished?

The flooring features a genuine 3mm European Oak wear layer. Professional sanding and refinishing may be possible, depending on the condition of the floor, remaining wear-layer thickness and previous sanding history.

Any refinishing should be assessed and performed by a qualified flooring professional.

14. What certifications and technical ratings apply to 14mm Imperial Engineered Oak™?

Refer to the product's current technical data sheet and certification documentation for the applicable emissions classification, FloorScore® certification, FSC® status, fire-related ratings and other technical information.

The documentation supplied for the specific product should be used to confirm the applicable ratings and certifications.

15. How much flooring is included in each pack?

Each pack contains six boards and covers approximately 2.166m².

We recommend allowing additional material for cutting waste and the room layout. The required quantity should be rounded up to the nearest full pack.
