Do tiles need to be removed before installing engineered timber flooring?

What if the existing tiles are glossy?

Glossy ceramic and porcelain tiles can present an adhesion challenge because the surface is dense and non-porous.


Simply cleaning a glossy tile is not necessarily enough for a direct-stick installation.


Mechanical preparation and the correct primer/system may be required to create an appropriate bonding surface.
