No. It is important to distinguish between water resistant and waterproof.

It should not be treated as a waterproof flooring product or installed in areas exposed to standing water or ongoing moisture.

3. Imperial Hybrid Flooring™
Hybrid flooring has become extremely popular in Australian homes because it combines a timber-look appearance with a rigid SPC core and waterproof construction.
However, hybrid flooring needs to be treated differently when you're dealing with an older timber subfloor on bearers and joists.
Hybrid flooring is a rigid floating floor system.
That means the condition of the surface underneath is extremely important.
If an older timber floor has excessive movement, deflection or unevenness, a rigid floating floor may not be the appropriate solution without additional preparation.

When can hybrid flooring work over an older timber floor?

What About Uneven Timber Floors?

Simply laying new flooring over major dips, high spots or moving boards is not a solution.

Yes, engineered timber can be installed over suitable timber subfloors.
Depending on the project, engineered timber can be installed using a floating system or direct-stick installation.
For projects where the existing timber structure has movement concerns, the preparation and installation method become particularly important.

For herringbone and chevron flooring, direct-stick installation is required.
What About Herringbone Flooring?
Herringbone can transform an older Australian home.

Herringbone and chevron should not be treated like a simple floating plank installation.

For this reason, herringbone is generally best suited to projects where the subfloor can be properly prepared and the installation completed by an experienced flooring installer.
